| Introduction to
Pro/ENGINEER serves as the foundational
course for all learning in the Pro/ENGINEER
environment. It provides a good introduction
to the three seminal principles of Solid
Modeling, Parametric Design, and Associativity
in a hands-on and project-based format.
All functions needed to create parts,
drawings and assemblies are covered
in this course, while pointing out
the proper techniques to adopt in
different situations. The overarching
design philosophy of the software,
which is its Top-Down design approach,
is explained so as to help create
models that are robust, flexible and
easy to troubleshoot.
The lesson modules are so structured
as to maximise hands-on interaction
with the Pro/ENGINEER software. Each
module builds incrementally on the
knowledge of its predecessors to create
the cumulative effect of a logical
and well-knit course. Students construct
"real world" parts and assemblies,
with the instructor acting as an expert
consultant in class.
This course has two primary goals.
Firstly, to provide both part and
assembly design along with basic drawing
creation and secondly, to enable all
users to create models pertaining
to their company'' design function.
After completing this course, it
is expected that all Mechanical Design
users will continue with ONE of the
following courses depending on their
specialization: Fundamentals of Design,
Fundamentals of Drawing or Fundamentals
of Sheetmetal design. |
